‘Way of the Cross’ Procession in Thrissur, Kerala

Good Friday signifies the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Stations of the Cross’ or ‘Way of the Cross’ procession, commemorating the Passion of Christ, was taken out in various parishes.

With wooden crosses and candles in their hands, hundreds of believers took part in the processions depicting the final hours of Jesus from his condemnation to the laying of the body in the tomb after crucifixion on Mount Calvary.

Christians commemorate the passion, suffering and the death of Christ on the cross in fasting, prayer, repentance and meditation on this day. The Good Friday is followed by the celebration of the Easter Sunday that commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
