The Elephant Project Introduces Baby Chaba Stuffed Animal as the First of SaveUs Collection to be Named After Its Real-World Counterpart

Founder Kristina McKean Continues to Donate 100% of Net Proceeds from All Toy Purchases to Rescue & Rehabilitation Efforts for the Real Life Baby Chaba and Other Captive Elephants Worldwide

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#BabyChabaThe Elephant Project, a female-founded philanthropic toy company that has helped save hundreds of elephants worldwide by donating 100% of its net proceeds to global elephant rescue efforts, is proud to announce the release of its newest addition to the Save Us stuffed animal collection: “Baby Chaba.” As the company’s first and only stuffed toy to be named after a living elephant, the Baby Chaba plushie represents its real-world, once-captive counterpart that currently resides in Elephant Nature Park, an elephant rescue sanctuary run by legendary advocate, Lek Chailert, in Thailand.

In addition to being the newest and most tangible character of the heartwarming collection, Baby Chaba will also be accompanied by a small children’s book that expands upon the story of the real Chaba, who was rescued alongside her mother by Chailert in August of 2021. True to the company’s mission, The Elephant Project’s founder, Kristina McKean, will donate 100% of all net proceeds from Baby Chaba toy sales to The Elephant Nature Park.

“Our Baby Chaba plushie represents the chance of a new life for every elephant still in captivity,” said McKean. “While every toy in our collection has been based loosely on real-world animals, Baby Chaba is the first we can directly link to a live elephant that was rescued. This one feels truly special, because it shows just how young these majestic keystone creatures are taken from their mothers and tortured to appease the fleeting desires of humans. But Baby Chaba also represents hope that it doesn’t have to be this way. By purchasing any toy from the collection, our customers can know that they are helping save elephants worldwide from injury, abuse, poaching, and abandonment while increasing education about the extreme intelligence, ethos, and plight of the elephant for the next generation.”

The Baby Chaba plushie stands at 6” tall — 3/4th the height of the other stuffed elephants, Kiki and Tembo — to showcase its youth among the collection. The Elephant Project donates all net proceeds from Save Us™ toy purchases to on-the-ground non-profit organizations like Elephant Nature Park, The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, The Elephant Cooperation and Trunks Up Foundation; all of whom share the company’s dedication to fight the poaching crisis and provide care to captive elephants. To date, The Elephant Project has helped aid in the rescue, rehabilitation, and protection of hundreds of elephants globally, while fostering numerous orphaned elephants and delighting families the world over.
