Tech Unicorn ShipBob Appoints Guillaume Deront as the New General Manager of Australia

Deront, a Former Shippit and Google Executive, Will Lead ShipBobs Entire Australian Business Efforts as the Tech Unicorn Expands Deeper Into the Market

MELBOURNE, Australia–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#AustraliaShipBob, the leading global omnifulfilment platform and US-based supply chain technology unicorn, today announced that Guillaume ‘G’ Deront has been appointed General Manager of Australia. He will head ShipBob’s current and future business initiatives in Australia and New Zealand. Deront comes to ShipBob from Shippit, where he led the Sales and Success teams, working with omnichannel retailers to optimise their last-mile strategy.

“Australia is a breeding ground for successful ecommerce brands, and ShipBob is uniquely positioned to help businesses expand their footprint across various sales channels and geographies,” said Deront. “As more and more Australian and New Zealand brands look to reach a global customer base, ShipBob’s offering of best-in-class fulfilment services and its logistics platform in Australia continues to set an industry standard, and I’m excited to be a part of it. I can’t wait to build the future success of the Australian ShipBob office.”

According to the International Trade Association, Australia’s ecommerce sales are growing rapidly, up 15.5 percent year over year and making it the eleventh largest ecommerce market in the world. With revenue predicted to reach AUD 46.44 million by 2024, this makes the Deront hire vital to leading ShipBob’s capabilities, as the market continues expanding quickly.

In the 2022 edition of ShipBob’s State of Ecommerce Fulfilment Report, ShipBob found that more than 70% of ecommerce brands surveyed will add a new sales channel in 2022 and nearly 32% plan to start physically fulfilling orders in new countries in 2022. Despite supply chain challenges, expansion and internationalisation remain top priorities for ecommerce brands that want to get in front of new audiences and provide a positive customer experience.

Deront, who last worked at Shippit, and previously held executive positions with Google and Gleam Futures, will be in charge of getting ShipBob’s tech-forward fulfilment, advanced analytics, no minimums, transparent billing and pricing structure, product bundling and global expansion capabilities across Australia, the EU, UK, US and Canada, into the hands of Australian merchants. The ShipBob platform integrates with many of the top ecommerce tools in Australia including Shopify, BigCommerce, Amazon, Klaviyo and Gorgias, offering best-in-class ecommerce solutions.

“Having Deront leading the ShipBob charge in Australia is very exciting for our company,” said Divey Gulati, President and co-founder of ShipBob. “Australia is a key global market for ShipBob, and we’re thrilled to have Deront and his many years of leadership and experience front and centre with us, especially as ShipBob experiences growth throughout Australia. With Deront’s help, we are excited to help Australian brands to scale locally and globally with our fulfilment network and capabilities.”
