Ljubljana, Slovenia, December 15, 2016 --(PR.com)-- SmartIS City has developed an application Smart Voice. Municipalities, citizens, and companies can now use it in their everyday business and private life. The application allows the exchange of ideas, problems report, communication with local businesses and much more.

An important part of smart cities today is the Internet of Things (IOT), through which billions of things will be connected to the Internet over the next few years. These "things" can be anything, such as buildings, water supply, street lights ... IoT brings increased level of automation and cost savings for cities all around the world. Smart devices enable people to stay connected to the Internet 24/7, which is why the use of Internet is rising sharply every year.

How many people keep track of how much time per day they spend in front of electronic devices connected to the Internet and Web browsers? According to the research from early 2013, the average European Internet user devotes 27 hours monthly to Internet browsing. But despite all the tools dedicated to work and education, the internet is still mainly used for entertainment, reading the news and small ads, shopping, movies, and music. What if a part of the time that they spend on the Internet for entertainment was devoted to improving the quality of the living environment in their town and municipality? For example, if instead of browsing through social networks, they could browse among the development projects of their city and news from their municipality, and instead of "liking" Facebook posts and commenting on them, they could like the content of the planned development projects of their city or municipality? Instead of sharing ideas on the city development only with a neighbor over coffee, people could propose a project or an easy, quick, or even better solution for the planned project site to the city administration. How would people that live in the city feel if they could promote the local economy, connect with local businesses, and with that create two-way communication?

It sounds simple and easy. And so it is with application Smart Voice, which allows all of the above in a simple way. According to a survey by the European Commission, the greatest obstacle of effective e-government services lies particularly in their complexity and opacity, which often prevents people from using them. Human population has to be prepared for the major technological changes that are unavoidable and, firstly, has to understand them.

Using technology to participate in the city management procedures brings many benefits: lower costs, greater flexibility, and simplified administrative procedures. Cities should be aware that adequately informed residents who wish to participate in decision-making, are the significant added value of the city. Such residents contribute new and innovative ideas and report problems. A city that knows the wishes of its people, can make better decisions and more effectively allocate investment funds and carry out relevant projects. Therefore, investing in the process of building and strengthening mutual confidence and investing in appropriate technology tools should not be seen as a cost but as an investment in a better future.

Many smart ideas on how to improve communication with the general population with the help of smart technologies already exists. Many tools were approved by both sides involved, but it is the most important that one and the other begin to use them. Many agree that the idea of smart cities is certainly important and it is not just a trend in an era when younger generations are replacing traditional media with smartphones. However in introducing the system and construction of "smart cities" the world is unfortunately still at the beginning. Technology is advancing rapidly and smart cities with the adequate support system can be "build" soon, people just need to change the perspective from observation into action. Therefore the real challenge of smart cities really lies in acceptance of smart lifestyle/smart city and a new perspective on communication.
