DUBLIN–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The “Research Report on China’s Fresh Cherry Import 2023-2032” report has been added to ResearchAndMarkets.com’s offering.
With the development of China’s economy and rising living standards, the demand for fresh cherry in the Chinese market is on the rise. Due to the limited arable land, there is little room for growth in China’s local fresh cherry production, and China needs to import a large amount of fresh cherry every year.
China’s fresh cherry imports and import value continue to expand from 2018-2022. According to the publisher analysis, in 2021, China’s total fresh cherry imports were 314,000 tons, up 48.9% year-on-year, and the import value was US$2.0 billion, up 20.5% year-on-year. in the first three quarters of 2022, China’s total fresh cherry imports were 309,000 tons, up 1.8% year-on-year, and the import value was US$2.23 billion, exceeding the total import value of the previous year, up 20.5% year-on-year.
The average price of fresh cherry imports in China fluctuates from 2018 to 2022. According to the publisher analysis, the average price of fresh cherry imports in China from 2018 to 2020 showed a year-on-year increase, and the average price of fresh cherries in China fell to US$6.4 per kg in 2021, down 20.0% year-on-year. Among them, the import price of fresh cherries from New Zealand is US$20.1 per kg, ranking first, the import price of fresh cherries from Australia is US$18.3 per kg, second only to fresh cherries from New Zealand, and the average price of imported cherries from the rest of the countries is lower than US$8 per kg. In the first three quarters of 2022, the average price of fresh cherry imports in China rebounded to the 2019 level, reaching US$7.2 per kg, a year-on-year growth of 18.4%.
In 2021, China imported fresh cherries from eight countries. Among them, the top five import sources based on import volume are Chile, the United States, Canada, Argentina and New Zealand. Chile is China’s largest source of fresh cherry imports, and in 2021, China imports 30.0 million tons of fresh cherries from Chile, accounting for 95.6% of total imports that year, and imports amount to US$1.88 billion, accounting for 94.2% of total imports that year.
The main types of fresh cherries imported into China are fresh European tart cherries and other fresh cherries, with other fresh cherries being the main type imported into China, and fresh European tart cherries accounting for only a small portion of China’s fresh cherry imports. fresh European tart cherry imports in the first three quarters of 2022 were only 6 tons, accounting for only two thousandths of total fresh cherry imports.
the publisher analyzes that as China’s national living standard improves, China’s demand for high-end fruits such as cherries will continue to expand. At the same time, the import market can meet consumer demand for cherries in winter and other periods, and China’s fresh cherry imports will continue to grow steadily in the future.
