Strelka KB, a consulting company for the Moscow City “My Street” program, receives an International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP) Grand Award for Excellence in recognition of exceptionally innovative urban initiatives globally. It is the first time that a Russian company gets this prestigious international prize.
Strelka KB CEO Denis Leontiev explained the details of the “My Street” project to the congress audience. The program has created an unprecedented situation in the professional approach to design in the post-Soviet space. In three years (2015-2017), 92 km of streets were rebuilt along which 7,000 energy-efficient street lamps were installed, and 7,000 trees were planted. To design key locations, Strelka KB invited international and Russian architectural firms including Diller Scofidio + Renfro, karres+brands, West 8, Plan_B, Snøhetta, Topotek 1, Irene Djao-Rakitine and others. Together with the transformation of individual spaces, Strelka KB developed the Consolidated Standard of Moscow Street Redesign, which made it possible to launch an urban renewal process on a large scale.
The ISOCARP award is a recognition by the international professional community of Strelka KBs methodology and approaches to urban development by the international professional community, Denis Leontiev remarked.
