Besides the basic licence and registration details, the microchip inside these cards will have details about the vehicle owner like legal actions and traffic violations, if any. It will also show the validity of the pollution certificate and fitness details of the vehicle.
The new smart card have more than five security precautions, which will make sure the duplication is impossible. This project is first getting launched in Kerala.
The department will also launch a centralized pollution testing facility, wherein the test will be done using a centralized software in the department’s custody while the agencies will examine and issue the certificate. The vehicle owners will get details of expiry of the certificate through an SMS.
Chief minister Oommen Chandy will launch the smart card facility on Wednesday (25th Feb, 2016) while the centralized pollution testing facility will be inaugurated by transport minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan today.
