Michael Terence Publishing is excited to announce the release of One Mans Gold a short story anthology by Joan Baxter.
To the words of a showman who said he never met a man he didnt like, someone responded with "- probably because he never stayed in one place long enough to get to know anyone." Possibly true, for while there are some wonderful people around, some are also wonderfully destructive. From many years travelling, Joan Baxter met far more good people than bad, more kindness and understanding than threatening or harmful. A beautiful nature can be inside many a belying faade. People living simple lives, often have no idea of the beauty of their own nature. They are completely themselves. Perhaps none of us knows what we have to give. But Joan was always the receiver.
The pieces in One Man's Gold are a tribute to some of the people Joan Baxter met, who taught her a lot, with no idea of just how much they were giving. In all walks of life and means of living they were a pleasure to know.

About the Author
From an early age Joan Baxters interests were travel, dance and writing. She had little schooling though what she did have was good. Joan particularly enjoyed her second school, the result of passing the eleven plus, but sadly was not allowed to finish.
Travelling for ten years, the people met and the experiences shared were memorable. In writing One Mans Gold Joan wanted to keep them that way, without embellishment. Glimpses of life, not stories.
Joan Baxter has had two contributions published in Readers Digest, one in a poetry anthology. Her last in the Oxford International Womens Festival Poetry Anthology. She has been a frequent contributor to Yoga magazines and her last book, Sword of No Blade, published by Samuel Weiser Inc. has been published in Korean in South Korea and in Portuguese in Brazil as well as English speaking countries. For womens activities in self-defence, Joan was interviewed on Radio 4s You and Yours. She also interviewed in Singapore with Peter, Paul and Mary on Singapore Roundup.
Joan worked her own act here in the UK and abroad, plus TV and films in Japan when a foreign face was needed. At home, she was one of a touring company of four, operating 12-15 high, period-dressed stringed puppets, for the Heap Miniature Theatre.
