There is a rising buzz in anticipation of the car ahead of its launch at next week’s Auto Expo in Greater Noida. While Vitara Brezza will be available through Maruti Suzuki dealerships, unlike the Baleno and S-Cross which are exclusively available through NEXA dealerships, the car is being pitted to corner a significant share of the rather ‘juicy’ SUV and compact SUV market.
Vitara Brezza, once launched, will go up directly against the Mahindra TUV300 and Ford’s EcoSport. Experts believe that if the anticipated pricing between Rs 7 and Rs 11 lakhs holds, then it may undercut even Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and the immensely popular Hyundai Creta.
For starters, the car – to be positioned under S-Cross – has a stylish yet slightly rugged look that Indian buyers are mostly known to fancy. From the single-slate chrome grille and stylish headlights at the front to the wraparound tail lights at the back, the Vitara Brezza has already made many hearts skip a beat. And while looks can be subjective, performance certainly isn’t.
On paper, the specs look more than just decent with Maruti Suzuki making use of a 1.3-litre MJD diesel engine – previously seen on the Ciaz. The 90PS of power and 200Nm of torque are generally acceptable numbers for a peppy city drive. Then, to answer the above question in short, Vitara Brezza does promise to bring a lot to the table and perspective buyers may not have to break bank. As for the drive itself, time will tell.
