- Eating sufficient amount of fruits, vegetables and whole-grains
- Eating lean meats, fish, poultry, beans and lentils
- Choosing non-fat/low-fat dairy products or milk
- Drinking plenty of water
- Having standard-sized servings
- Limiting consumption of saturated fat and sugar
- Limiting intake of sugar-rich beverages
