Korean Young Students Living Near Sea Demonstrate Against Japanese Government�s Decision to Discharge Fukushima Contaminated Water

– “Do Not Release Radioactive Water into The Ocean”


SEOUL, South Korea–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#DemonstrationAgainstDischargingFukushimaContaminatedWaterGreen Consumers’ Network in Uijeongbu and Late Spring Moon Ik-hwan School held a demonstration against the Japanese government’s decision to release contaminated water ahead of Earth Day on Tuesday morning.

“Late Spring Moon Ik-hwan School” in Jeolla Province, participated in a joint demonstration with the Green Consumers’ Network in Uijeongbu, which has been holding an online demonstration against the release of contaminated water since April 15.

Sung-joo Park, president of the student body, said, “Since last year, the biggest concern of our students has been the environment. We decided to participate in this demonstration because we want to convey students’ opposition to the Japanese government’s decision to release contaminated water.”

Hye-jin Rhee, secretary general of Green Consumers’ Network in Uijeongbu, said, “Since the Japanese government’s decision is not just about neighboring countries, Korea and China, we hope that the whole world will actively support the opposition.”

Green Consumers’ Network in Uijeongbu will continue its online protest against the decision to discharge polluted water from Fukushima nuclear power plant for 55 days from April 15 to June 8.
