Kollam Temple Fire Live: Major Fire breaks out at Puttingal temple in Kollam, Kerala

At least 80 people have been killed in a major fire at a temple in Paravoor in Kerala’s Kollam district on Sunday morning. As per the reports more than 200 people were injured and taken to near by hospitals. The fire started in the early morning today.

Puttingal temple in Paravoor was celebrating the temple festival today. Officials involved in the relief and rescue operations claimed that the fire broke out during celebrations involving firecrackers at around 3 AM.

Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said, “The fire broke out at 3:30 AM during celebration through fire crackers. I have asked the DGP to go to the spot and take stock of the situation. We will give finance assistance to victim. I am myself going to the spot.”

K Lalji, ACP, Kollam district has said “The situation is now under control, the DGP is also here”.
