I tried a lot of new things with this record, and really experimented with different sounds, Juan said, discussing the upcoming release. Each song focuses on a different subconscious thought or idea, such as doubt in relationships and a hidden desire to break away from the way society expects you to be.
Juan gave a preview of the EP with an album sampler, posted to her official website, containing snippets of the five new tracks, including the lead track White Wine, which will have an accompanying music video, to be released with the EP on the 10th of May, through Juan's official website and YouTube channel.
Coming just weeks before the release of her brand new poetry collection Ol' Brown Eyes Is Back at the end of May, and following the release of her recent single A View From The Bridge, which has already amassed thousands of streams and listeners across several digital music platforms, Subliminals is another piece of the immersive creative universe Juan has built for her audience. A mixture of many styles of music, Subliminals finds inspiration in pop, hip hop, and ambient music, tied together by Juan's witty and poetic lyrics, and soft, sweet voice.
Further discussing the upcoming EP, Juan said, Some of the tracks were inspired by poems I had already written, and it was really fun to transform existing projects into a new medium. I'm really excited to share this with people.
Subliminals will be available from all major digital streaming platforms and digital music stores, including Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, Amazon, Bandcamp and iTunes from Friday, the 10th of May 2019, along with the music video for White Wine, which will be available to stream on JenniferJuan.com as well as YouTube.
