HPC-AI Advisory Council Invites Participation in Ninth Annual Advanced RDMA Programming Workshop and Competition

BEIJING & SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--#ai--Promoter of high performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI) education and expertise, the HPC-AI Advisory Council (HPCAIAC) today announced the registration opening for its 9th Annual Advanced RDMA Programming Workshop and Competition (22-29 August). Combining an immersive 4.5-day workshop followed with the 3-day challenge, participants will be introduced to advanced technologies, programming and optimization in server-storage communication efficiencies.

The four and a half day workshop will feature leading global experts, lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on training in advanced Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) programming. Used widely in HPC, AI, Cloud and Edge computing and industry sectors, including telco and financial services, RDMA enables efficient and scalable data transfers between edge, servers and storage platforms.

In addition to the introduction of advanced RDMA programming, expert instructors contributing to the HPCAIACs annual training and development workshop will provide in-depth training on optimizing performance for a variety of network offload features.

Experts for the 2021 Workshop include:

  • Dhabaleswar (DK) Panda Professor and University Distinguished Scholar of Computer Science and Engineering at the Ohio State University in the US.
  • Manjunath Gorentla Venkata Research Scientist at HPC-AI Advisory Council. Previously, Research Scientist in the Computer Science and Mathematics Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in the US.
  • Gil Bloch Programming Instructor at Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Ben Gurion University in Israel.
  • Cheng Li Research Professor at the School of Computer Science and Technology at University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) and member of Advanced Data Systems Lab (ADSL).
  • Jidong Zhai Associate Professor in the Computer Science Department at Tsinghua University.
  • Yunquan Zhang Research Professor and Director of Parallel Software Laboratory, Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Secretary General of CCF TCHPC, and Chair of ACM SIGHPC China.

In preparation for the three-day programming competition, prior competition participants will join with experts to share tips, insights and lessons learned. The three-day challenge is open to a maximum of twenty teams with up to five competitors. Sole individuals will also be considered and where available placed with teams to complete the maximum number of team participants. All interested challengers must register before 19 August to ensure eligibility.

RDMA is a key differentiator in optimizing applications and maximizing overall performance, as well as the fundamental requirement for advanced In-Network Computing technologies. As more HPC and AI platforms are integrated into Enterprise data centers theres been an increasing demand for RDMA and In-Network Computing technologies for experienced programmers, said Gilad Shainer, chairman of the HPC-AI Advisory Council. The workshop and competition provide a great hands-on learning platform and opportunity to network with leaders in the field from around the world.
