Freedom 251 Scam: BJP MP Kirit Somaiya calls Freedom 251 phone booking “bogus company scam”

“Freedom 251 is a huge scam” Said BJP MP Kirit Somaiya. He is currently representing Mumbai North-East in the 16th Lok Sabha.

Kirit Somaiya raised his concern over the authenticity of Freedom 251 smartphone and the Ringing Bell Pvt Ltd, the company which launched a Smartphone for Rs.251. The company also started taking the Online booking for this Smartphone on their Official website www.freedom251.com.

Freedom 251, World’s cheapest Mobile launched on Wednesday in New Delhi, Ringing Bells, a Noida-based start-up launched the phone in the presence of veteran BJP leader and former Union HRD Minister Murli Manohar Joshi. Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar who was scheduled to attend the launch event, could not make it to the event eventually due to a cabinet meeting.

Within two days of the launch many Govt agencies had already put the Ringing Bells Pvt Ltd on their Radar. Telecom ministry had already sought a clarification from Ringing Bells for marketing its �Freedom251’ mobile phone without a BIS certification.

Today we had seen a raid by Income Tax Department in the office of Ringing Bells Pvt Ltd. According to a report by the Hindustan Times, a three-member team from the department reached the company’s office in Noida today.
