Dino Gavanes Announces Run for DuPage County Board

A longtime local resident and experienced business leader, Dino Gavanes is a Republican candidate to represent the communities within District 1.

Online PR News 20-September-2018 For Dino Gavanes, serving on the DuPage County Board is personal. "District 1 has been my personal and professional home for years," Dino says. "I look forward to the opportunity to serve it by ensuring that the DuPage County Board continues to support the interests and wellbeing of our residents. The county has been run extremely well and I am eager to contribute to that continuity while advancing the county's best interests."

Raised in Chicago, Dino studied engineering at UIC, but ultimately entered the insurance business. He moved to Wood Dale in 1977, starting his own insurance agency while earning his MBA in finance from DePaul University. In 1986, he founded Premier Risk Services, Inc., which by 2010, grew to employ 20 people.

"Studying both finance and engineering prepared me well for life, and for understanding the manufacturing and construction disciplines and their financial sides," notes Dino.

Dino also gained valuable experience with his professional association involvement. He's held leadership posts with the Independent Insurance Agents of America, the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents, the Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois, and the National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research. Dino says, "Serving on these committees helped me develop a deep understanding of both the national and state political structure."

Dino uses that experience today as a member of several county committees. Appointed to the District 1 seat vacated by the retirement of Paul Fichtner, Dino serves on six committees: Economic Development, Environmental, Finance, Public Works, Stormwater, and Technology. "I see my purpose as providing a lifetime of business and community leadership and expertise to the work of these committees," says Dino.

Dino led the development of 127 N. Walnut in Itasca, considered the cornerstone of the suburb's downtown. That experience shapes his perspective on county economic development and his work on the county committees. He also serves on the boards for the Itasca Chamber of Commerce, Addison Township, and the Itasca Police Pension Fund.

Dino has also enjoyed getting to know his fellow board members. "This is a great group of leaders with the best interests of county residents foremost in their minds," Dino emphasizes. "I welcome the opportunity to join them for the next four years."

District 1 includes Addison, Bensenville, Bloomingdale, Elmhurst, Itasca, Medinah, Roselle and Wood Dale in addition to portions of Lombard, Villa Park, Elk Grove, and Glendale Heights. "I want District 1 voters to know I live and work here, and I understand the issues. I ask for your vote on November 6 and look forward to serving you in the years to come."
