Global engineering leader re-establishes anti-bribery position with second annual ISO 37001 renewal certification
OVERLAND PARK, Kan.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Recognizing that transparency is absolutely critical to protecting its reputation as a global engineering leader, Black & Veatch is proud to announce that it has satisfactorily accomplished its second flawless annual ISO 37001 certification renewal the international standard for anti-bribery business management systems for its office in Jakarta, Indonesia. Bribery is a destructive criminal activity that turns over $1 trillion of dirty money every year while completely undermining an organizations credibility and trust.
ISO 37001 is a globally recognized certification that allows organizations of all types to prevent, detect and address bribery by adopting an anti-bribery policy, appointing a person to oversee anti-bribery compliance, training, risk assessments and due diligence on projects and business associates, implementing financial and commercial controls, and instituting reporting and investigation procedures, states ISO, the International Organization for Standardization.
Bribery is a corrupt and destructive act, and here at Black & Veatch, we take our commitment to fair and transparent work practices very seriously, said Peter Loftspring, Chief Compliance Manager with Black & Veatch. This was a significant milestone, as the certification and recertification effort involved in-depth, in-person audits of every part of the business potentially exposed to corruption.
Black & Veatch originally obtained ISO 37001 certification in September 2019. This is the companys second annual re-certification, making it one of the few U.S. companies with the certification. The company has all met the requirements of the initial and two subsequent annual external certification efforts without a single exception, obtaining a perfect score each time.
Not only does this recertification demonstrate our companys ongoing commitment, but it also goes a long way towards making sure our Compliance Program is actually working as intended, while also educating our global clients about the organizational values we hold most dear, Loftspring added.
The ISO is an independent, non-governmental international organization that relies on its membership of 166 national standards bodies to develop voluntary, consensus-based, market-relevant International Standards that support innovation and provide solutions to global challenges.
