Beyond Music Announces Successful $170M Strategic Fundraising Round

Asia’s largest music IP investment firm secures new capital to expand business in South Korea and beyond

SEOUL, South Korea--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Beyond Music, a leading, global music investment firm based in South Korea with over 27,000 songs in its catalog announces today the success of its latest strategic fundraising round, totaling $170 million.*

This funding round brings Beyond Music’s total amount of capital raised to nearly $400 million, since the firm’s inception in 2021. Leading this strategic round is Beyond Music’s largest backer, Praxis Capital, joined in tandem by several of the largest LPs in Asia.

“Praxis Capital is well known for its successful track record in the content industry, and brings to the table not just capital, but “smart capital” that delivers insight and shared vision,” says Jangwon Lee, CEO of Beyond Music. “Home to all-time hits comparable to the Bon Jovis, Led Zepplins and Whitney Houstons of Asia, Beyond Music has already established itself as the region’s market leader with the deepest pockets, quantitative disciplines and proven value-up records. Through this investment, we hope to continue our purpose of serving Asia’s most respected artists and their works.”

The capital secured from this funding round will be used to acquire rights to evergreen songs and further establish the firm’s financial strength and deal-closing ability for music rights holders. Beyond Music aims to strengthen its role as the largest and most active capital provider within the Asian music industry by holistically growing value and developing creative strategies for music rights holders. By using a “buy and build” business model, Beyond Music has found success in building and acquiring large-scale, high-quality music catalogs and revitalizing those songs through proactive value enhancement strategies such as remakes, performance marketing and industry partnerships. For example, after the acquisition of Jung In-ho's "Heyo" released in 2001, Beyond Music made a fresh interpretation of the work and released a remake version in 2022 which captivated the public and has topped the charts from 2022 through 2023. The streaming traffic to the original song also more than doubled after the release of the remake version.

This influx of capital will be instrumental in allowing Beyond Music to expand its capabilities and leadership within the music investment and catalog market, both within Asia and internationally. With over 70 catalog transactions already under the firm’s belt, Beyond Music’s mission is to revolutionize the Asian music market by instilling a powerful new, quantitative financial infrastructure for songwriters, musicians and music labels. The firm anticipates song-level management to offer significant growth opportunities within Asia and outside of its borders as streaming consumption and appetite for revitalized songs gain momentum. Beyond Music aims to provide music creators with unique capital sources to capitalize on this growing demand for the success of the vibrant Asian music market.
