The competition aims to support oncology patients and their relatives through art, call to resist the severe diagnosis, and promote the joy of living and recovery. The competition is open to any art lover around the world and artworks are especially welcome from those who have been able to defeat cancer. The slogan of the competition is � Art wins!
The Head of the Foundation, Mr. Einars Rep�e commented: �Oncology patients are entitled to the quality of life even during the toughest stages of their treatment. They and their families are entitled to understanding, supportive, inspiring and caring environment. This competition is about the light and hope. It is about love, the joy of life, and human victory over diseases. We hope that the artworks will provide strength to people in sorrow and promote their resistance to the disease.�
The Foundation, in collaboration with art experts, therapists and other professionals of the field, plan to create an artwork collection of the most highly regarded works submitted for the competition that, along with the high artistic value, are also able to support patients emotionally and motivate them in their struggle with the disease.
The artworks submitted for the competition will be exhibited at the oncology patient recovery facilities and published at the Foundation website. Every year, three best works will be awarded with the main awards of 4000 EUR, 2000 EUR and 1000 EUR. Incentive bonuses and special recognition awards may also be granted every month.
The competition jury includes Mr. Einars Rep�e, Head of Aina Muceniece Virotherapy Foundation, Mr. Aleksejs Naumovs, Professor and painter, rector of the Art Academy of Latvia, Mr. Oj?rs Sp?r?tis, Professor, President of the Latvian Academy of Sciences, Mrs. M?ra L?ce, Director of the Latvian National Museum of Art; Mr. Kristaps Zari?�, Professor and painter, Pro-rector of the Art Academy of Latvia; Mr. G?ebs Pante?ejevs, Professor of the Art Academy of Latvia, sculptor, and Mrs. Sanita Ciganovska, art therapist.
