Intex Mobiles buys two new IPL teams that will play in 2016 and 2017

Intex MobilesIndustrialist Sanjiv Goenka's New Rising and handset maker Intex have won the bid for the two new IPL teams that will play in 2016 and 2017 editions of the league in the absence of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals.
Intex Mobiles will shell out Rs.16 crore for the period.

The 2016 edition of IPL will begin from April 9 and stretch till May 29, an IPL governing council meeting decided here on Tuesday.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India�s twitter handle retweeted the post.

The base price was pegged at Rs.40 crore for the franchisees by BCCI.

The two teams will now pick five players from among the former CSK and RR team through a draft. Among the two new team owners, the one who has bid the lowest New Rising will get to pick the first player, which would in all probability be MS Dhoni.

Rajeev Shukla, the chairman of IPL announced the new teams after the Indian Premier League Governing Council met in Delhi today.

Fresh bids for two new IPL franchises arose after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) were suspeded for two years for the involvement some of their officials and co-owners in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing and betting scandal by the Supreme Court-appointed Justice (retd) R.M.
