Northern German software developer strengthens position as expert developer of digitalized business processes. Leading strategy: the cloud.
In 2016, the new company headquarters building was constructed for WMD. In the same year of its expansion, subsidiaries in Slovakia and the U.S.A. joined those existing in the Netherlands, Denmark, and Singapore. In 2018, yet another followed in Spain.
Services moved to the cloud
2019 is the year of the cloud for WMD. The declared goal is to provide automated, standardized digital processes for organizations on a fast, secure, centralized WMD cloud platform without necessitating setup of company resources for it. These standard processes include products for mailroom, data capture, and archiving. The shift to the cloud significantly simplifies work processes for different departments. As digitalization and linked processes take hold, manufacturers of ERP systems are increasingly opening up their systems to adjacent IT solutions, sensors and machines, and adding functionalities from the cloud. WMD cloud applications interface seamlessly and offer full availability.
Matthias Lemenkühler (50), Managing Director at WMD: “Monolithic systems are no longer with the times. Nowadays we need flexible services for specialized atomic processes which can be integrated speedily and flexibly into the company ERP landscape. We want to continue automating and standardizing the processes of our customers in the global markets, to increase our customers’ competitive edge. The cloud services are an important step in this direction.” Lemenkühler has been with WMD since 1997, and has served as a managing director since 2003. As part of succession arrangements, he began heading the business with Thomas Radestock (48) in 2018. In 2018, WMD joined with majority shareholder PINOVA Capital, creating a basis for continued expansion.
Alignment with strategic SAP issues
WMD’s core technology is xSuitean information management platform allowing organizations to connect single work steps to end-to-end processesfor outbound purchase orders, incoming invoices, incoming orders, folder and contract management, and archiving. xSuite either works integrated into SAP or connected to other ERP and ECM systems. Usability, mobile access and app technology, and the alignment of xSuite with the SAP innovations S/4HANA, HANA database, Fiori, and cloud scenarios are also important subjects for WMD in 2019 and beyond.
Thomas Radestock: “It is our ambition to use xSuite to digitalize the critical work processes, to support the interchange between man and technology in the simplest way possible, staying at the edge of changes taking place in the world of processes. One of these developments is, for instance, our special solution for the public sector for the receipt and processing of invoices in XML format.”
