USA Track & Field master throwers are coming to Lisle, Illinois on August 6 and 7 for the ultimate in weight-throwing sport competitions.

Online PR News � 12-July-2016 � The Lisle Convention & Visitors Bureau has announced the latest lineup of things to do in Lisle, in August. USATF Illinois is bringing back the 2016 USATF Masters Throws Championships to the Village of Lisle / Benedictine University Sports Complex on August 6 -7. The two-day long series of events features unique competitions that showcase an athlete's ultimate power and strength. The event's specific sport competitions include: the Throws Pentathlon, the Ultraweight Pentathlon, and the Superweight Throw.

Over 120 athletes will compete in these recreational events broken down by 5-year age groups. The competition features athletes from all over the country and several current and past World Champions including Carol Finsrud, Bob Cedrone, John Goldhammer and Ruth Welding. All events take place at the Village of Lisle/Benedictine Sports Complex throwing field located at the north end of the stadium.

"This is the third time the USATF Masters Throws Championships have been held in Lisle. They were previously held in at the sports complex in 2010 and 2013 and we are thrilled to welcome to the USATF back. If you have never been to a championship event like this before, you're missing out. These are master athletes and what they can do is amazing. It's so inspirational for kids, high school, and college athletes who can see these throws live and even meet the athletes," said Diane Homolka, Executive Director of the Lisle Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The schedule of events is as follows:

Saturday, August 6: 8 a.m. 5 p.m.: Throws Pentathlon. This includes the Hammer, Shot, Discus, Javelin and Weight throws performed in a pentathlon format.

Sunday, August 7: 8 a.m. 3 p.m.: Ultraweight Pentathlon and SuperWeight Throw. This consists of the weight, the superweight and the next three sizes of weights. Weights ranging from 16 lbs. to 300 lbs. will be thrown.

Volunteers are needed to help make the event a success. No experience is needed but volunteers must be at least 15 years of age. Contact Tricia Myers [email protected].
